My Favorite Cigar
Geoffrey Zakarian • Celebrity Chef • Ferio Tego Timeless Prestige
Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is instantly recognizable: white hair, perfectly and tightly cropped, very fit, dapper outfit and a million-dollar smile. He’s a fixture on Food Network, as a judge on the cooking contest show “Chopped” and as a host of “The Kitchen,” a casual, educational program and food talk show aimed at guiding home cooks. Whether it’s on television or on social media, Zakarian cooks with enthusiasm. A recent post on his Instagram account has him mixing up a spicy, buttery lobster roll to the pumping tune of the AC/DC classic “Highway to Hell.” He also channels that same energy when talking about fine cigars.
He’s a fan of Ferio Tegos from the Dominican Republic and Partagás cigars from Cuba. “The Ferio Tego Timeless Prestige for a Dominican is hands down the best there is,” says the 66-year-old. “On the Cuban side I also admire the D 4 Partagás. Both are supremely delicious.” He doesn’t hold to only one size of the Ferio Tego, sometimes going big, sometimes opting for something smaller. “Usually a Churchill or a robusto,” he explains. “Or a petit if it’s cold outside.” Dealing with the chill has become less of an issue since he moved to Cigar City: Tampa, Florida.
