The cigar accessories market is never short on offerings. The industry is essentially built around three basic cigar functions—storage, lighting and cutting—yet new products, tailored to different cigar smoker personas, continue to hit the market. The new Tübr cigar cases are no different. The company took a highly technical approach to building its Gordo Alümen cigar cases, which are ultra-durable, locked with an air-tight seal and are tailor-made for cigar-loving golfers and outdoorsmen.

At the 2025 PGA Merchandise Show in January, which is a trade show for golf professionals and industry exhibitors showcasing their latest golf-centric products, Tübr won the 2025 Inventors Spotlight award. The product was envisioned a few years back. After working together on a project to create a safer industrial helmet, known as WaveCel, Andrew Oldknow, Tübr inventor, and Brad Jersey, Tübr managing partner, embarked on a new project to create a durable cigar case. Oldknow, who has a background in industrial design and has been involved, in some form or fashion, in more than 700 patents, is an avid cigar smoker and outdoorsman. As part of a personal project, he started mocking up a case that could withstand the elements while keeping his smokes fresh. Once he finally created what he felt was the perfect iteration, the side hustle morphed into a business, and Tübr was born.

“It’s a precision-made product that’s really designed to keep your most precious cigars safe on the go,” says Oldknow. Jersey reiterated that sentiment: "Our mission has always been to create the ultimate portable storage for cigar lovers, golfers and outdoor adventurers."

Satisfying this mission largely hinges on the utility patent-pending design that hermetically seals the cigars inside. The air-tight lock keeps external elements out and is particularly helpful with maintaining consistent humidification—plus, you won’t have to worry about the top, outer shell haphazardly popping off. Oldknow says adding a Boveda pack isn’t necessarily needed, but it can’t hurt. He says humidity conditions should remain stable, assuming the cases are in comfortable climate settings, and not, for example, sitting out baking in the sun. Just like with most cigar cases, these weren’t designed for long-term storage, but rather to transport a few sticks from point A to point B.

The Gordo Alümen case operates like most two- and three-finger cigar cases, with a simple two-piece, slide function to open and close it. The top, outer shell is made with anodized aluminum, and is quite literally built to withstand just about anything. “I wanted it to be something that’s pretty much indestructible,” says Oldknow. “We haven’t driven a car over it, but I think you could.” You’d have to work hard to damage your smokes once they're inside the cigar case, even dropping it in water won’t do the trick. The cases were built to float and be waterproof, although, in moderation. “We don’t suggest that someone go deep sea diving with it,” says Jersey. “But we do know that if it falls out of your pocket when you’re fly fishing, you’re going to be able pick it back up and everything inside is going to be in a pristine state.”

The Gordo Alümen cases come in two sleek finishes, a silver or black aluminum shell. The lower half and inside portion of the cases is all black for both models. Tübr hopes to add a custom engraving feature soon, that will allow you to personalize the outer shell. But for now, it’s silver or black.

The cases are 7 and 1/4 inches tall, and are built to hold up to a 65 ring gauge cigar, so you are covered for carrying most smokes up to a Churchill in length. Double coronas and As will be too long for this setup. Now this isn’t a case that you can discretely tuck into your suit jacket, due to the size, but even with the aluminum shell, the Gordo Alümen is fairly lightweight and easy to carry around. The case goes for $99.99, and is currently only available for purchase on the Tübr website, which you can find here.

Tübr also offers an all-plastic cigar case called the Gordo and a few other storage vessels for various applications beyond cigars. The company is devoted to the cigar industry, but believes its technical know-how can be leveraged even further. “I believe Tübr will be the Yeti of premium storage,” says Jersey. “The science applies to all models.”
