The IM Corona Double Corona butane lighter is back. After an absence in the market, Illinois-based Arango Cigar Co. has revived these durable, dual-flame lighters and they’re shipping out to retailers today.

IM Corona’s Double Corona lighters have always been a bit of a contradiction, as they were known for having both rugged construction as well as elegant finishes—two traits that are seldom found in one unit. This is due to the patented manufacturing process. The IM Corona Double Corona is crafted from a solid block of brass, giving it a weighty feel in the hand (the fuel tank is actually part of the brass casting). Silicone seals and a large fuel tank mean longer ignition times for thicker cigars and less chance of misfires or overheating. According to Arango, IM Corona has re-tooled the internal components so that these new units are even more durable and reliable than previous models.

Another notable aspect is that the Double Corona rejects the torch trend. Rather than the push-button jet flames that are so popular today, each lighter is activated by an old-fashioned ignition wheel that produces two large, converging soft flames, well suited to larger cigars (hence the name).

The lighters are made in Japan, just like before, and Arango offers these “Resurrection” pieces in three finishes: Hairline Brushed Chrome, Pinstriped Chrome and Pinstriped Matte Black. They all retail for $300 apiece and feel every bit as substantial and responsive as their predecessors.

IM Corona’s Double Corona lighters were previously distributed by Music City Marketing. Before that, it was Savinelli, which began selling these lighters in 1972. They are now part of Arango’s portfolio, a large line of products that includes smoking accessories, pipes, pipe tobacco and cigars.
