Registration Opens For ProCigar Festival

Make sure your passport is up to date, as registration for the 17th ProCigar Festival is now open. Taking place in the Dominican Republic from February 16 to 21, attendees will spend six days exploring the beautiful country’s cigarmaking culture and rub shoulders with many of the people behind their favorite brands.

If you decide to make the trip, you'll get a proverbial peek behind the curtain for an immersive six days, starting in the coastal region of La Romana before moving to mountainous Santiago—the epicenter of cigar country—for the duration of the festival. Among the planned events include three days of visiting tobacco fields, touring cigar factories and evening festivities every night, all while smoking lots of Dominican cigars.

This year’s festival notably features a change of venue. In previous years, the Gran Almirante was the primary hotel for registered ProCigar guests. Now, primary lodging will be at the Residence Inn by Marriott. According to ProCigar, the decision to change venues was due to the growth of the city of Santiago and its resulting impact on mobility transportation logistics regarding tours and other festival activities.

There are two alternate hotel options for those planning to attend: The new AC Marriott, which is within walking distance of the dinner party at Monumento at Los Heroes de La Restauración (aka the White Party), and the Garden Court Hotel, which usually participates in the festival and is close to the Santiago airport.

There’s an early-bird discount should you register before November.

Registration is open to consumers, retailers, press and suppliers.
