Management Changes At Drew Estate

Drew Estate, the makers of premium cigars such as Liga Privada, Undercrown, Herrera Esteli and many others, has announced two leadership changes at the company.

Co-founder and president Jonathan Sann (who also goes by the name Jonathan Drew), has been promoted to chief innovation officer. In the new role he will oversee a recently formed innovation department that aims to expand the company’s business portfolio with new products and assets. Drew Estate says two projects from the innovation department are already underway: the creation of a new cigar factory in the Dominican Republic called Drew Dominicana, and a cigar retail division and factory in Miami, Florida, named J. Sann & Son.

Along with his new title, Sann will remain the company’s president.

“We are asking Jonathan to engage his visionary roots and create multidimensional cultural and business adjacencies that will help shape the future of Drew Estate,” said Glenn Wolfson, chief executive officer of Drew Estate. “This is a momentous occasion in Drew Estate’s history, and one we’ll surely look back at as the beginning of a whole new chapter.”

The company has also hired Andrew Duncan as senior vice president of marketing. Duncan will inherit responsibilities previously held by Sann and lead marketing for Drew Estate. The company says Duncan will also work closely with Sann to pursue the goals of the company’s innovation department.

“We are confident we’ve found the right leader for the job with Andrew and are excited to see what he can achieve here at Drew Estate as well as what we can contribute to the ongoing health and growth of our premium cigar industry,” Wolfson said.

Duncan previously served as global head of brand marketing at the Sazerac Co. Inc., one of the largest spirits companies in the United States. Prior to Sazerac, he spent more than four years at Procter & Gamble in a variety of marketing roles.
