Luciano Cigars Shifts Production To New Location

In September 2022, Luciano Meirelles, owner of Luciano Cigars (formerly ACE Prime), moved production of brands such as Luciano The Dreamer, Fiat Lux and Mas Igneus from Tabacalera Pichardo to another factory in Estelí. In addition to the move, Meirelles says that he’s begun construction on a smaller factory a short distance away that will soon be ready to start making cigars.

Measuring about 12,000 square-feet, the Luciano Tabacos S.A. factory was formerly occupied by NACSA (Nicaraguan American Cigars S.A.). The new 7,000 foot factory is part of Luciano Tabacos S.A.  but will be referred to as the Maria Lucia unit, as the brand of the same name will be made there, along with other projects, limited-editions and private labels. Operation at the new factory will commence on March 10, according to Meirelles.

One of the newer cigar brands being made at Luciano Tabacos S.A. is Wise Blood, the third collaboration between Meirelles and boutique cigarmaker ATL Cigar Co., but the first to be both produced and distributed through Luciano Cigars. Shipping in both bundles and boxes of 20, the cigars are named after the 1952 novel of the same name by Flannery O’Connor.

Wise Blood consists of an Ecuador Habano wrapper, Ecuador Connecticut binder and filler from three different regions in Nicaragua. According to the company, the cigars are mild to medium in strength and will come in four sizes: Lonsdale, measuring 6 1/2 inches by 42 ring gauge ($9.99); Robusto Extra, 6 by 50 ($10.49); Robusto, 5 1/4 by 54 ($10.49); and Gordito, 4 by 60 ($10.99). The cigars will be on display at the TPE trade show next week in Las Vegas and ship to retailers in March.
