Dates Set for Nicaragua’s Fifth Cigar Festival
The Nicaragua Tobacco Association has announced the dates and opened registration for the fifth Puro Sabor, the annual festival that celebrates the country's vibrant premium cigar industry.
Puro Sabor will begin on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 and run until Saturday, January 16.
The schedule includes some lifestyle activities, the chance to meet Nicaragua's best cigarmakers, and also plenty of chances to learn all about Nicaraguan cigars through immersion via cigar factory and tobacco field tours.
On day one, guests will arrive in Managua, Nicaragua, and be driven to the Crown Plaza Hotel where they will check in and receive a gift bag that includes a t-shirt and festival-exclusive guayabera, humidor, and two dozen premium cigars from the various members of the Nicaraguan Association of Tobacco. Festival-goers will then enjoy cocktails (and cigars) at Lake Managua's Puerto Salvador Allende.
The next day, participants will head to Chichigalpa city where they will tour the Flor de Caña rum distillery before heading to farm El Rosario. There they will pair Flor's Centenario 18 year old rum with cigars while taking in a unique Spanish equestrian show.
On day three, participants will head to the heart of Nicaragua's tobacco industry, Estelí, where they will enjoy lunch at Tavicusa (home of Rocky Patel Premium Cigars) before cigar factory tours. The agenda lists A.J. Fernandez, A.S.P. Nicaragua S.A., Drew Estate Tobacco Co., My Father Cigars, Cubanica (Padrón Cigars), PENSA, and Plasencia Cigars among the choices. That night, festival-goers will then be able to relax at a gala party, held at Plaza Domingo Gadea in Estelí.
The cigarmaker visits continue on the fourth day, as participants will get the chance to visit tobacco fields owned by such major companies as A.J. Fernandez, A.S.P. Nicaragua S.A., Padrón Cigars, My Father Cigars, Plasencia Cigars, Procenicsa, and Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. Additionally, festival-goers will explore the factories of Joya de Nicaragua, Nicaragua American Cigars S.A., Tabacalera Oliva S.A. (Oliva Cigars), Procenicsa, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and Tavicusa. After lunch, the cigar stars of Nicaragua will then make themselves available for questions regarding their trade, market trends, and the economy of the industry.
Members of the Nicaraguan Association of Tobacco Producers include: A.J. Fernandez, A.S.P. Nicaragua S.A., Cubanica (Padrón Cigars), Drew Estate Tobacco Co., GK Tabacos de Nicaragua S.A., Joya de Nicaragua, My Father Cigars, NACSA, PENSA, Plasencia Cigars, Procenicsa, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Tabacalera Oliva S.A. and Tabacos Villa Cuba (Tavicusa).
