A Night to Light Up
Once the clock struck midnight, cigars were taken to the hotel's Sky Yard patio as the Smoke-Free Ontario Act went into effect, outlawing smoking in virtually every indoor public place in the province.
Five Canadian distributors had organized the event to say goodbye to smoking in fine fashion. Brigham Enterprises Inc., Havana House Cigar & Tobacco Merchants Ltd., House of Horvath Inc., Kretek International and The David Cigar Co. of Canada invited 500-plus people to come and light up while enjoying gourmet fare and live entertainment.
"The event was a tremendous success for the entire cigar industry," said Micky Pegg, national sales manager for C.A.O. International Inc., who handed out C.A.O. cigars to guests.
