All Cigars of the Week
A slow starter, this corona begins with light notes of grains and tea, but intensifies to show a nut-and-honey sweetness along with notes of oak, nougat and allspice.
A dark, softly box-pressed robusto with a flat head. Coffee, chocolate and toasty impressions intertwine with touches of almond paste, spice and leather. Hints of vanilla and fruit appear on the oaky finish. Both the draw and combustion are even.
Very large, quite light and gleaming with oil. The cigar’s pervasive cinnamon spiciness elevates all other aspects of toast, cappuccino and even its slight echo of rye whiskey. It all amounts to a very toasty finish.
Some faint initial gumminess fades fast for a nutty smoke that’s balanced by a honey sweetness and woody backbone. Creamy notes of vanilla and cinnamon also appear.
A light-brown cigar with a few sharp veins to its cover leaf. Simple notes of salt and wood are given complexity with elements of creamy coffee, shortbread and some zesty citrus before the cedary finish. Both the draw and combustion are even.
A creamy smoke overall, this dark, thick cigar shows an herbal side before an interim note of sour cherry bridges the toasted marshmallow finish. Its draw and burn are even throughout.
Made with a flat head and reddish, nearly pristine wrapper. It imparts a concentrated smoke, dense with gingersnap cookie and leather notes, underscored by a spicy, complex range of marjoram, cinnamon, allspice and ground ginger.
Floral first puffs of this light-brown pirámide become rich and nutty, unfolding layers of nougat, oak and honey. Halfway through, a big chocolate note emerges before the buttery cashew finish. The draw is even and lush while the burn is a touch blistery.
There’s a hint of port wine in each puff of this nutty, coffee-like smoke, which draws and burns evenly. Hints of caramel, licorice and minerals add some complexity. A rich cigar.
Though herbal at first, this large, thick cigar goes into another gear of flavor, intensifying to show spice, earth and leather along with sweeter notes of chocolate and oatmeal cookie. The finish smacks of coffee bean and walnut.
