My Favorite Cigar
Jack Carr • Novelist • Hooten Young Jack Carr Edition
Bestselling author and retired Navy SEAL Jack Carr draws writing inspiration from his wartime experiences. “I remember what it was like to be in an ambush in Baghdad in 2006,” Carr says. “I remember what it was like to be a sniper in Ramadi.” The 50-year-old novelist, who lives in Park City, Utah, with his wife and children, once led assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“There were times we’d be sitting around a fire, thinking about how we lost someone but also reminiscing about their life and who they were,” he says. “We’d smoke cigars. We’d have issues of Cigar Aficionado that would make their way around. No phone. No email. Just telling stories, connecting with other people, walking in their shoes.”
After 20 years in Naval Special Warfare Command, Carr retired to pursue a writing career. His debut novel, The Terminal List, has expanded into a popular book series and a hit Amazon Prime Video franchise starring Chris Pratt. The Fourth Option, Carr’s new thriller cowritten with M. P. Woodward, hits bookstores May 12th.
The author enjoys the Hooten Young Jack Carr Edition, which he created with veteran-owned cigar and American Whiskey brand Hooten Young. “It’s a great cigar for sitting around the campfire, for sharing experiences and stories with friends.”
