Tasting Note

Since Kyle Gellis started Warped Cigars, his smokes have frequently placed on our Top 25 list, most recently taking the No. 23 spot last year. In 2024, the cigarmaker expanded his operation, creating a new company that bears his family name, known as Gellis Family Cigars. The family label started with two brands, and one excelled in our blind tastings. Called Saunter, the single-size line consists of a robusto with a Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, Ecuadoran binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, where the cigar is produced. Saunter delivers a balanced, hearty profile with a nutty core that’s supplemented by some woody undercurrents and a reverberating sweetness.
